For British Citizens, a full passport is required for all cruises.

If the guest does not hold a British Citizen passport, their passport/travel documentation/visa requirements may be different and we recommend that they contact their Embassy.

The following passport and visa information is for British Citizens only:

- Guests will need to have six months validity in their passport after their date of return.

- Passport validity must be based on the strictest requirements which are in place for the cruise, as validity and definitions vary across destinations.

- Children need their own passports.

- British Visitor Passports are no longer valid. British Subject passport holder requirements may differ, so please check them before travelling. British Subject passport holders are mostly people who were born in British India before 01/01/49 and did not become citizens of India, or who were citizens of Eire and British subjects before 01/01/49 and have made a claim to retain British Subject status.

- All passports should have sufficient blank pages for entry and exit stamps (applicable to the length and ports of call in the itinerary).

- British Citizens will need to have a valid biometric (E-passport) or machine-readable passport to travel.

- At times it may be necessary for the ship’s staff to hold a guest's passport for a short time to be able to complete immigration formalities on their behalf.

- If a guest is unable to travel as a result of not having the correct passport validity, they would be subject to standard terms and conditions.

Whilst the Carnival UK policy is that guests should have six months on their passport after the date of return, regardless if they are British sailing to EU or British sailing to non-EU, if the guest challenges it then we can revert to the timeframes in the table below. This is because the Carnival UK policy of six months differs from the minimum validity which is accepted.

British Citizens

The passport must be within 10 years of issue date to enter the EU.
The passport needs at least 3 months validity from their return date to the UK even if those are "bonus" months.
Please note that child passports are valid for five years so will not exceed the 10 year validity restriction and will be valid for travel on this condition, however must still have the minimum months remaining on their passport (as per the table below) to travel.

The table outlines the minimum validity accepted on different voyage types. In all instances, the passport must be valid for the length of time after the voyage has ended. Whilst the table may show an alternative number of months, the CUK policy is six months validity, and this is what we should recommend to guests in the first instance.

*British passport holders are now Non EU nationals, however the rules are slightly more relaxed for EU cruises than other non EU countries.

EU National ID cards - conditions^^^

EU National ID cards can only be used to enter the UK if they meet one of the following conditions:

The guest has settled or pre-settled status under the EU settlement Scheme
The guest has an EU Settlement Scheme family permit
The guest has a frontier worker permit / The guest is an S2 Healthcare worker
The guest is a Swiss Service Provider

Any cards that do not meet the conditions outlined above cannot be accepted for travel on any voyage that calls at a UK port (including starting or ending in Southampton).

Passport holders from EU, EEA or EFTA member states may, however, travel on a National ID card (Government issued not including photographic drivers licences) in lieu of a passport on cruises/voyages that stop at EU ports ONLY (eg Fly Med cruise) or Norwegian and/or Icelandic ports ONLY. These sailings cannot start or end outside of the EU and therefore cannot start or end in Southampton.
The expiry date of the ID card should be no less than the expiry date required of passports.
