What activities are available on board?

Once on board, you will be able to view our Daily Programme which details all planned events and activities each day.

During days at sea, there is wide range of activities available on board, such as guest speakers, quizzes, sports tournaments, galley tour, cinema screenings, and spa seminars. Of course, you may just prefer browse through the various shops taking a little retail therapy or to relax on deck with a cocktail and a book (the libraries on board have a wide selection of books you may borrow and we run a book club); you can do as little or as much as you choose.

 

Craft & Dance Classes

Watercolour classes and Bridge instruction are available on all cruises that have full sea days. Water colour kits are available for purchase on board.

Coupled dance instructors on board offer a variety of dance lessons on voyages longer than 7 nights in duration. The main types of dance offered are ballroom and Latin. There are no charges for these lessons, however, it may be possible to arrange 1 to 1 tuition, though any charges generated - a fee will be charged to your on board account for this service.

Everyone is welcome regardless of experience. Full details will be available to you once on board. 

 

Indoor Games/Activities

Bridge can be played on every sea day if requested and alternative card games (cards are provided).

Queen Elizabeth,  scheduled duplicate Bridge classes and social Bridge every sea day afternoon in the Card Room, which is hosted by the Bridge Instructor. Whist can be requested. On port days scheduled social Bridge and Whist (if requested on the voyage) is played in the Card Room. Packs of cards are available for guests to play other games if they wish. 

Queen Mary 2, two bridge classes every morning on sea days (beginners and intermediate) and a duplicate bridge tournament every sea day afternoon. On port days we set out cards, pencils and score sheets for an advertised social (unhosted) bridge/whist session. 

Queen Victoria, daily bridge classes every morning on sea days morning with instructors for both beginners and intermediate levels.  Duplicate bridge play with the instructors in the afternoons on the same day, usually in the Card Room on deck 3.  

Games can be played in card rooms or wherever a table is available. Whist Drive time and venue will be advertised in the Daily Programme.

Availability of any particular game may vary according between voyages.

A dart board is available on board in the following locations:

Queen Elizabeth - Golden Lion Pub, Deck 2
Queen Mary 2 - Golden Lion Pub
Queen Victoria - Golden Lion Pub, Deck 2

Book Club

A book club will be held on all voyages with four or more sea days with a new book approximately every three months.

Books in the book club are available to hire on board via the library and also available for purchase should you wish to make notes in the book, or take home to read over again.

Of course, if you own the book already, you are more than welcome to bring this with you.

Fitness Classes

Each ship has a well equipped gym and a range of pools. There are a range of fitness classes available in the gym, Please see question: Is there a spa and gym on board?

 

Foil Fencing Classes

Fencing classes are run on Queen Victoria, Queen Elizabeth and Queen Mary 2. There are no costs involved to take part in the classes.

No prior experience is required and all required safety equipment is provided. No one under the age of 18 is allowed to take part for health and safety reasons.

 

Other Sporting Activities

A range of sporting activities are available including:

Paddle tennis (The paddle tennis court is approximately 7m x 13m)

Golf (Chipping, putting & target nets)

Baggo (Queen Victoria & Queen Mary 2)

Short Mat Bowls (Queen Elizabeth)
Deck 10 Pin Bowling (Queen Victoria)

Sports equipment is provided free of charge and are available at their locations between 9am and 5pm. Organised tournaments and social play get together are advertised in the Daily Programme

Golf Simulators
On Queen Mary 2 there are two golf simulators which are available for guests to book privately for a half or full hour. Each simulator offers the chance to virtually play on over 35 golf courses which are mainly based in the USA and Britain as well as the famous Valderamal. The charge (confirmed on board) is not applied per person playing, but rather for the time booked, therefore up to eight players can play for the same cost. Single Travellers

As well as the above, there are coffee mornings for guests travelling by themselves. These are advertised in the daily ship's newspaper.

These coffee mornings are not available on 2 or 3 night cruises.
